How does a box dryer dry wood

News 850

The process of drying wood with a box dryer is a complex process that requires multiple steps and considerations. The following is an overview based on general principles and practical operational experience:

1.Preparation stage

  • Ensure that the wood is clean and free of impurities, and perform preliminary treatments as needed, such as removing bark, cutting, etc.
  • Place the wood neatly on pallets or in the drying room, avoiding overlap to ensure even circulation of hot air.
  • Check if all components of the Box dryer are intact, such as the heater, fan, and dehumidification system.
  • Ensure that the drying room is free of debris and has good sealing to reduce heat loss and moisture leakage.

2.Heating stage

  • When preheating is completed and the temperature inside the drying room reaches 55 degrees or above, dehumidification begins.
  • The dehumidification time is generally controlled at 20-30 minutes, adjusted according to the humidity in the drying room and the degree of dryness of the wood.
  • After dehumidification, the temperature will decrease slightly and gradually increase, but the maximum temperature generally does not exceed 70 degrees.
  • During the entire drying process, multiple dehumidification operations are required to ensure the smooth drainage of moisture from the wood.

3.Drying stage

  • At this stage, the moisture in the wood evaporates at a relatively constant rate.
  • The air temperature, humidity, and wind speed need to be relatively stable to ensure the drying effect.
  • When the moisture content of wood decreases to a certain extent, the evaporation rate of water will gradually slow down.
  • At this point, it is necessary to lower the drying temperature or adjust the dehumidification frequency appropriately to avoid excessive drying or cracking of the wood.

4.End stage

  • After drying, take samples to check the moisture content and drying quality of the wood.
  • Ensure that the wood meets the predetermined drying standards.
  • Slowly reduce the temperature inside the drying room to gradually adapt the wood to the external environment.
  • Open the drying room door, take out the dried wood and store it properly.

5.Precautions for Drying

  • During the drying process, it is necessary to closely monitor the temperature and humidity changes in the drying room and adjust the drying parameters in a timely manner.
  • Avoid defects such as cracking and deformation of wood during the drying process.
  • After drying, it is necessary to clean the drying room and equipment in a timely manner for the next use.

The above information is for reference only. The specific drying process may vary depending on the type of wood, drying equipment model, and drying requirements. In practical operation, it is recommended to adjust and optimize according to specific situations.
