  • Sawdust charcoal machine is a kind of environmental protection equipment that converts agricultural and forestry wastes (such as sawdust, rice husk, straw, bamboo shavings, etc.) into high-density mechanism charcoal. Through high-temperature carbonization and molding process, this technology converts otherwise difficult-to-handle biomass waste into high calorific value, smokeless and tasteless clean fuels or industrial raw materials, and at the same time, it can recover high value-added by-products such as wood tar and wood vinegar liquid. Its core value lies in resource recycling and carbon neutral contribution, and has been widely used in agriculture, industry, civil fuel and environmental protection engineering fields.

Charcoal machine working principle

The core technology of the sawdust charcoal machine revolves around gasification cycle charring and automation control, which is divided into the following key stages:

  • Gasification Heat Source Recirculation System

At the initial stage of equipment startup, the raw materials are ignited by external heat source (e.g. gasifier), which generates high temperature flue gas (containing flammable gases such as methane, carbon monoxide, etc.).
After the flue gas is cooled and purified by spraying, it is reintroduced into the combustion chamber as a heat source through the PLC control system, realizing a self-sufficiency rate of more than 90% in energy.

  • carbonization reaction by dry distillation

Under the anoxic environment, the lignin and cellulose in the raw material undergo pyrolysis, and the temperature is controlled in segments: 160-280°C: volatile matter is removed and primary carbons are formed; 280-400°C: deep carbonization, and the carbon content is raised to more than 75%.

  • Smoke-free emission design

Multi-layer purification devices (spray tower, condenser, activated carbon adsorption) are used to treat the residual flue gas to ensure that the emissions comply with international environmental standards (e.g., PM2.5 ≤ 10mg/m³)

  • Raw material pre-processing

Crushing: Crush the raw materials to ≤50mm particles by hammer mill (hardwoods need to be crushed to ≤3mm for the second time).
Drying: Drum drying system to reduce the moisture content to 8%-12% (too high will lead to carbonization efficiency decreased by more than 30%)

  • High Pressure Molding

Adopting screw extrusion rod-making machine, compressing raw materials into hexagonal cylindrical salary rods (without binder) under 280-350℃ and 30-50MPa pressure.

  • Continuous carbonization

Carbonization furnace type:
Horizontal charring furnace: suitable for small scale production, single furnace cycle 4-5 hours;
Roller type continuous carbonization furnace: 24 hours continuous operation, daily output of 3-5 tons.
Temperature control:
Heating stage: 160-280°C (volatile matter removal, lasting 1.5-2 hours);
Constant temperature stage: 280-400°C (deep carbonization, lasting 2-3 hours).

  • Cooling and post-processing

After the charcoal is discharged, it is cooled down to below 50℃ by water cooling or air cooling system, and the crushed residue is removed by sieving, and the moisture content of the finished product is ≤6%.
Simultaneous recovery of wood tar (for antiseptic production) and wood vinegar liquid (for soil improvement).
